When you are called to jury duty, what do you do? Well, I didn’t think I could have my phone, so I brought a pad of brown paper and a pencil and pen (and of course my eraser…no one is perfect). I brought my Baker Creek seed catalog and had the intention of drawing a chamomile plant. What happened instead was this piece. It went from being a chamomile plant, to a very cool, textile-like piece.
It ended up being one of my favorites, and still is. I draw in pencil, outline in Micron pen, then erase all pencil lines. I add color, this time, colored pencil, then re-outline and detail with Micron pens (multiple sizes usually depending on the detail), sign, and done!
For those wondering, because I know I would, I was not picked for jury duty, never even called for questioning. It was a drunk driving case, which of course I googled later, he was found guilty, and appealed. I never heard what happened after that. So, don’t drink and drive y’all.
